This policy explains what personal information this website (carolinelangyoga.com) collects, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). The website is run by Caroline Lang (“I”, “me”), a yoga teacher based in Devon, England. You can contact me about privacy at contact [at] carolinelangyoga [dot] com.
I collect your name, email address, an optional subject, and your message, so that I can read and reply to your enquiry. The message is emailed to contact [at] carolinelangyoga [dot] com (which forwards to my inbox). The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch.
Payment is handled entirely by PayPal — I never see or store your card details. After a successful payment I receive, from PayPal, your email address and the transaction reference, which I use to email you the download link and to confirm the order. A short-lived record (your email and a download token) is kept to deliver the file and enforce the download limit, and expires automatically within a few days. The lawful basis is performance of our contract (supplying the recording you bought), and keeping basic sale records is a legal obligation (tax).
Like any website, when you visit, my hosting provider automatically processes limited technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. This site uses no cookies and no analytics or tracking.
I use a small number of trusted providers (“processors”) to run the site:
Some of these providers operate internationally; where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the providers’ standard contractual clauses.
Enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Records of sales are kept for as long as the law requires (generally six years for tax). Download links and their associated records expire automatically within a few days.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email contact [at] carolinelangyoga [dot] com. If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
This site and its recordings are intended for adults and are not directed at children.
I may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
